I just thought of the best JDate profile

If I had a profile on JDate, my tag line would read:
Don't you wish your goy friend was hot like me.

Thank you, that is all.

Evolution of My Blog

I'm a relative late-comer to the blog scene. For years I thought about starting one but didn't think I had anything worth saying. Costa Rica changed that a little bit. Now that I'm back to the grind I'm still not convinced that anybody else cares what I have to say, but I'm putting it out there anyway.

Here's what's on my mind right now: I've been getting pretty wacky with blog widgets along the right side of my page lately. You can see my IM status, my recent Flickr stream, the reviews that I've posted on Yelp, etc. I'm wondering if I'm getting a little over-zealous. All this content is great, but it slows down page-loading time and doesn't look quite as elegant as before I put all the goodies in.

So I ask you my dear readers, what's a boy to do?

Am I getting carried away with my blog layout?
Simple and clean for me please.
Content is king, the more the better.
I honestly don't care one way or the other.

The little voice in the back of my head thinks it's pretty clear that nobody reads this drivel anyway so there won't be any votes. I'd love it if you could prove him wrong.

Thanks!

Web 2.0 with Mom

This morning I taught my mom how to hack. There's a piece of code you can edit within the Skype app that allows Mac users to up their video resolution. I showed her how to open the xml file in text edit and change the code. It's certainly not a difficult hack, but my mom's hacking none the less. Here's the results:

After

I'm so proud :)

In exchange for sharing my geekitude, she shared some of hers:

A good weekend

Had a good weekend, felt productive. We painted our bedroom New Bedroom Color. It was the first time I've painted since we helped our tenant, Barbara, paint her place when I was maybe 10 years old. I think it came out pretty well. I'm excited to have it done. Now we can finally start decorating the room, which I'm definitely looking forward to.

Friday night we saw a musical! Sweeney Todd at the CCCT, we had a blast. It's a macabre story of a vengeful barber and his lover the baker's immoral meat pies. The two leads have excellent voices and the theater itself is so small, you're just feet from the stage. The performers even sing in the aisles. It's still running for another month, so if you're interested in supporting some good wholesome (mostly) community theater, I'd recommend checking it out. Plus, it's in El Cerrito just a few blocks from our place, so open invitation to stop by for a beer afterwards.

Sunday, the sun came out and we took Zahava for a bike ride with my new Springer bicycle-dog contraption. I'll take some pictures of us the next time we go out. In the mean time, that's what it looks like so you can get an idea. We definitely get a lot of looks riding down the Ohlone bicycle path. Tired DogHad a good 4 mile ride and she was exhausted by the time we got home. She spent the rest of the day asleep, waking up every hour or two to move to whichever room we were in.

And then it was Monday and I had to go back to work. Oh well.
